Purpose of the Assignment
The Government of Ghana and UNICEF are implementing a joint water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programme from 2012-2017, this include a wide variety of interventions covering water supply, sanitation, hygiene, WASH in institutions, household water treatment and safe storage, stakeholder capacity building and support to the WASH enabling environment. With numerous cutting edge initiatives and pieces of research it is of utmost importance that these are documented for both UNICEF and WASH sector of Ghana’s benefit as a whole.
The consultant will focus on documenting key on-going interventions of UNICEF-GoG programming. Via field observations and interviews with UNICEF and partner staff, the consultant will produce 2-4 page field notes on a range of technical programme components.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health, Civil Engineering, Education, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Sanitation Engineering, or a relevant field.
Qualifications and experience in areas of communication and writing are highly desirable
Years of relevant experience
Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience within the WASH sector, with at least one year of field based WASH international experience with a UN agency or NGO
Competencies of Successful Candidate
Fluency in English required.
A solid understanding of the latest developments and innovations within the WASH sector
Strong writing and communication skills, with proven ability to develop concise, informative and accessible pieces of literature
Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Publisher, other publishing and photo editing software experience is an asset
Initiative and resourcefulness. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and partners, with sensitivity, in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment.
